George Karlaftis is a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He played high school football at West Lafayette Junior-Senior High School and preceded to Purdue where he had collegiate football.

In 2020 as a sophomore, he played in just three games due to a positive COVID-19 result, finishing the year with four tackles and two sacks.

Both the Academic All-Big Ten Second Team and the Second Team both named him. For the season, he had three tackles, including two solo stops and a sack against Iowa on October 24. He recorded another sack on October 31 at Illinois.

He announced his intention to enter the 2022 NFL Draft after recording 4.5 sacks in 2021. The 30th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft went to the Kansas City Chiefs, who selected Karlaftis.
