Justin played varsity football while he was a student at Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from high school, he went on to the University of Illinois, where he played NCAA football for the Illinois Fighting Illini squad. With 841 total receiving yards, three-star prospect Justin Hardee completed high school.

He was a free agent when the Houston Texans signed him in May 2017 after going undrafted out of college. The day of his discharge was September 2nd, 2017. In the same month, he joined the New Orleans Saints practice squad. As of September 23, 2017, he was indicated as being on the Saints’ active roster.



He re-signed with the Saints in March 2020, however they placed him on injured reserve on November 6, 2020, due to a groin ailment. He began working there on December 12, 2020. On March 18, 2021, he and the New York Jets came to a $5.25 million, three-year agreement.
