Justin Simmons participates in professional football as a free safety for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. He is 1.88 meters tall and weighs 92 kilos. He played football while a student at Martin County High School. He played intercollegiate football for the Boston College Eagles team. As a rookie in 2012, he took part in each of the Eagles’ 12 games.
He played free safety for six games and started one game at cornerback. He finished sixth on the team in tackles with 52 and shared the team lead with two forced fumbles. As a sophomore in 2013, he played in all 13 games and recorded 34 tackles, 22 solo tackles, and three pass break-ups.
In 2014 as a junior, he made all 13 of his starts, starting the first seven at free safety and the last six at right cornerback. All 12 of his games as a senior were at free safety, and he finished third on the team in tackles with 67. In the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos picked Simmons with the 98th overall choice.
His first NFL game was against the Carolina Panthers in the Broncos’ season-opening contest. In March 2021, he signed a $41 million, four-year contract with the team. On September 14, 2022, he was placed on injured reserve after suffering a quad injury in Week 1 of the 2022 season. On October 17, he was activated into action.
