Kolten Kaha Wong is a well-known professional baseball second baseman for the Major League Baseball Milwaukee Brewers. Wong once played the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2013, he made his MLB debut.

Wong grew up in Hilo, Hawaii, where he played baseball for Kamehameha Hawaii High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Wong was drafted in the first round of the 2011 Main League Baseball draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, who promoted him to the major leagues two years later. In May 2014, he was named the National League Rookie of the Month.

The Cardinals declined Wong’s player option for the 2021 season in the summer of 2020, making him a free agent for the first time in his career. He later joined the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kolten Wong was born to Kolen “Kaha” Wong, who also played college baseball at USC before spending two years in the minor levels with the Reno Silver Sox in Class-A. His dad later became a popular baseball coach in Hawaii. Wong’s dad has always been his role model.

He taught Wong Kolten about the game and the importance of training out, which he emphasized on a daily basis.

Wong spent two hours each day cutting trees with an ax to enhance his strength, as well as daily sessions in a batting cage, to train as a baseball player.

He won the Cal Ripken World Series with his club, Pacific Southwest, in Aberdeen, Maryland. He also represented Hilo American Little League at the 2007 Senior League Baseball World Series.
