Cy Young holds the MLB loss record with 316. Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Young was an American. He grew up on his family’s farm near Gilmore, Ohio, where he worked as a teenager before beginning his professional baseball career.

Since his first appearance in the National League in 1890, Young has pitched for the Cleveland Spiders of the National League and remained with the team until 1898. After that, he was traded to the Cardinals of St. Louis.

When the Boston Red Sox franchise moved to the American League in 1901, Young joined the team and helped them win the 1903 World Series. Retiring from professional baseball in 1911, he played for the Cleveland Naps and the Boston Rustlers.

Early in his career, Young was one of the game’s hardest-throwing pitchers. Despite the fact that his speed had decreased, he continued to be effective far into his forties by relying more on his control.
