The Angels designate Robel Garcia and acquire Jack Mayfield. Infielder Jack Mayfield was acquired by the Angels from the Braves on Thursday, according to a team announcement. To free up a spot on the 40-man roster, Robel Garcia, another infielder, was designated for assignment.

Mayfield is currently a professional baseball infielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. He was born on September 30, 1990.

In Del Rio, Texas, Mayfield attended Del Rio High School. From 2010 to 2013, he played college baseball for the Oklahoma Sooners while was a student at the University of Oklahoma.

Mayfield was signed by the Houston Astros as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He made his major league debut for Houston in 2019. He has participated in MLB games with the Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, and Houston Astros.

He participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Brewster Whitecaps’ collegiate summer baseball program in 2011.

On June 16, 2013, the Astros signed Mayfield as an undrafted free agent. He split his rookie campaign in 2013 between the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Greeneville Astros. He played for the Lancaster JetHawks and the Quad Cities River Bandits in 2014.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim claimed Mayfield off waivers on February 25, 2021.

The Seattle Mariners picked up Mayfield off waivers on April 27, 2021. After hitting 6-for-34 in 11 games with the team, Seattle designated Mayfield for assignment.

Mayfield was optioned to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees by the Los Angeles Angels on June 13, 2021, after being claimed off waivers by them. He was promoted to the Angels on July 6, 2021.
