When Mann was a student at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas, he was coached by Ed Pustejovsky, a veteran of the Texas A&M University football team. Mann scored 7 of 10 field goal attempts (his longest was 49 yards) and 46 of 48 extra point attempts as a junior.



He was honored with a spot on the All-Greater Houston team by the Houston Chronicle in 2014. As a senior, he had a perfect record of 25-for-25 extra points and an average punting distance of 45 yards on 41 attempts. Mann participated in the Under Armour All-America Game after completing his senior year in high school.

In high school and college, Mann had aspirations of playing linebacker, but his height and a history of injuries prevented him from fulfilling those ambitions. Rivals.com ranked him as the number two kicker in the country, while 247Sports.com ranked him as the number five kicker in the country.
