He completed his secondary school there at Clarke Richardson Collegiate. After redshirting his first season of NCAA football at Simon Fraser University, he was permitted to start every game as a defensive end. He soon heard from Fort Hays State University and was able to cover his first semester of tuition before being offered an athletic scholarship. He was named the 2017 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year after the regular season. He was picked up by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
