Devon Allen is a wide receiver with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He is a track and field athlete who competes in the 110-meter hurdles. He weighs 86 kilograms and stands 1.85 meters tall. While attending Brophy College Preparatory, he participated in football for the school’s team.
Straight out of high school, he joined with the University of Oregon as a four-star recruit and played wide receiver for the Oregon Ducks football team for three years. He had previously participated in the US Nationals and the Olympics, but in 2022 he chose to attend the University of Oregon’s football pro day for players instead.
NFL scouts were drawn to Allen after he ran an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 4.35 seconds. He made an impression on the Eagles to warrant a trip to the NovaCare Complex, where they train, on April 7. Allen signed a regular three-year undrafted rookie deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in April 2022, the day after being taken to their training facility.
On August 30, 2022, he was released, and the next day, he was added to the practice squad. He was disqualified from the 2022 World Athletic Championships in July due to an arguable incorrect start. His reaction time was recorded by sensors in the starting blocks at 0.099 seconds, which is 0.001 seconds quicker than the permitted reaction time under the law.
