As a senior, he rushed for 861 yards and 13 scores in addition to passing for 4,202 yards and 39 scores. Additionally, he received the Texas High School Football Player of the Year award.

As a junior, he ran for 1,212 yards and 18 additional touchdowns in addition to throwing for 3,596 yards and 32. He has 53 receptions for 667 yards and eight touchdowns in his second season at wide receiver. While a student at the University of Houston, he participated in NCAA football with the Houston Cougars.
