Anthony Benjamin Kay is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. In the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, the New York Mets selected Kay in the first round with the 31st choice.

Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York was Kay’s alma mater. He was selected in the 29th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets, but he did not sign.

He played college baseball at the University of Connecticut. Kay started eight games and competed in 18 games as a freshman at Connecticut in 2014.

He finished 5–4 with a 3.49 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched. He started 14 of 17 games as a sophomore, going 8–6 with a 2.07 ERA and 96 strikeouts.

He started 17 games as a junior, finishing 9–2 with a 2.65 ERA and 111 strikeouts. He played collegiate summer baseball for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2014 and 2015.

Kay was taken 31st overall in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets, who got a compensatory pick after the Washington Nationals signed Daniel Murphy.

Kay did not play in any games in the Mets’ system after getting drafted, and on October 4, 2016, he underwent Tommy John surgery, which forced him to miss the entire 2017 season.

In 2018, he pitched for the Columbia Fireflies and the St. Lucie Mets, going 7–11 with a 4.26 ERA in 122.2 innings pitched.

He began 2019 with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies before being promoted to the Syracuse Mets on June 14. Kay has been selected to play in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game.
