Bryan Garcia is an American professional baseball pitcher who now plays for the Major League Baseball’s Detroit Tigers (MLB). In 2019, he made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Tigers.
Garcia attended Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida, and began pitching for the school’s baseball team as a sophomore.
He was 8–1 with a 1.23 earned run average in 2013. (ERA). He was not drafted by Major League Baseball in 2013 and instead enrolled at the University of Miami, where he played baseball for the Miami Hurricanes.
He established the Miami saves record (18) throughout his professional career and was named the NCBWA Stopper of the Year in 2016. Garcia was picked in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers.
After signing with the Tigers, he began his professional career as a reliever with the Connecticut Tigers of the Class A/Short Season New York-Penn League before being promoted to the Western Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A/Midwestern League.
In addition to West Michigan, he has previously played for the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Erie Seawolves (AA Eastern League), and Toledo Mud Hens (AA International League).
Garcia participated in 52 games for the four clubs, finishing with a 5–3 record, a 2.13 earned run average, and a 1.05 earned run average (WHIP).
