Damar Romeyelle Hamlin, better known by his professional football name Damar Hamlin, plays safety for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He weighs 91 kg and is 1.85 meters tall. He was born on March 24, 1998, in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, in the United States. While attending Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, he participated in football. He received Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-State recognition.
After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh, where he played NCAA football for the Pittsburgh Panthers team. He played in three games prior to getting hurt and redshirting as a freshman. As a redshirt freshman, he played in nine games and made 41 tackles in addition to one interception. With 90 tackles and two interceptions as a redshirt sophomore for the Panthers, Hamlin was named honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
He made 84 tackles and 10 passes intercepted as a junior redshirt. He was chosen as team captain going into his last season, and after leading the team with 67 tackles and seven passes intercepted, he was named to the second team of the ACC. Hamlin was taken by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 212th overall. He and the Buffalo Bills reached a four-year rookie contract on May 21, 2021.
