Jacob Bailey is an American football punter who currently plays for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Bailey was born on June 18, 1997.
He attended Stanford University and was on the football team there. During his time at Stanford, Bailey had a punt that was 84 yards long, the longest in the school’s history.
He punted 185 times throughout the course of his four years at the club, making him the all-time leader in career punting average with 43.8 yards per kick.
Bailey was named to the All-Pac-12 team three times and received honourable mention for the Pac-12 All-Academic team twice.
During the 2019 National Football League Draft, the New England Patriots selected defensive back Ryan Bailey in the fifth round (163rd overall).
Bailey faced out against Ryan Allen, the incumbent punter for the Patriots, who had been with the team for six seasons. After playing in the Patriots’ second preseason game on August 19, 2019, Allen was cut loose by the team.
Bailey took up the Patriots’ kickoff responsibilities when Stephen Gostkowski was placed on injured reserve. Gostkowski was the team’s kicker.
