Montez Sweat is a professional football defensive end who plays for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League. He weighs 119 kg and stands 1.98 m tall. He made a commitment to attend Michigan State following high school in order to play collegiate football for the Spartans. Prior to redshirting in 2014, he competed in two games there and recorded one sack. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 2016, following his graduation from Michigan State. He moved once more in 2017 to play for the Bulldogs at Mississippi State University.

Sweat was selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round with the 26th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. In the Week 15 of the 2021 NFL season against the Philadelphia Eagles, he recorded a sack and forced a fumble. In April 2022, the Commanders exercised the fifth-year option in Sweat’s contract.
