The San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball presently field American pitcher Nicholas Andres Martinez. Martinez was born in the United States on August 5th, 1990. (MLB).
While playing with the Texas Rangers in the American League, he also spent time in Japan with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters and the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks (NPB).
When Martinez graduated from Miami’s Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, he elected to attend Fordham University in New York City instead.
With this, he became the 34th Fordham University alumnus to play in the Major Leagues (MLB). He pitched in 15 games for Fordham as a reliever over the course of two seasons, going 1-3 with a 5.33 earned-run average.
For three seasons, he played primarily at second base, hitting.295 with four home runs, sixty-six runs batted in, 167 hits and 22 stolen bases in 148 games at the plate.
He played collegiate summer baseball in 2011 with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. he was also a part of the Vermont Mountaineers baseball team,
who competed in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECCBL). In Mountaineer history, he is the seventh player to play in the Major Leagues.
