Nik Needham, also known as Nikolas James Needham, is a cornerback with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He stands 1.85 meters tall. He is 89 kilograms in weight. Both his high school education and football career were completed at Buena Park High School.
He attended the University of Texas at El Paso and played college football for the UTEP Miners team after completing high school. He spent five seasons as a member of the UTEP Miners, redshirting his rookie campaign. In 41 games played, he concluded his collegiate career with 213 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and a school record 33 passes broken up.
In April 2019, he agreed to a free agent contract with the Miami Dolphins. As part of the team’s final roster cuts in August 2019, he was released, but the next day, he was signed to the practice squad. In October 2019, he was elevated to the active roster. The following day, he played against the Washington Redskins in his NFL debut, starting at cornerback and finishing with one tackle and one pass deflected.
On March 8, 2021, the Dolphins issued him an exclusive-rights free agent tender. On April 19, he executed the one-year contract. He received a restricted free agent offer in the second round from the Dolphins in March 2022.
