Roenis Leliebre Elias is a professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Seattle Mariners. The Cuban native made his MLB debut for the Mariners in 2014. Elias also played for the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Nationals in Major League Baseball.

On May 3, 2011, Elias signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners. That season, he made his minor league debut, pitching for the Rookie League Pulaski Mariners, the Arizona League Mariners, and the Single-A Clinton LumberKings. Over 48+13 innings pitched, he went 5-2 with a 4.28 ERA and 41 strikeouts.

He was a member of the Class A-Advanced High Desert Mavericks in 2012. He appeared in 26 games and finished with an 11-6 record, 3.76 ERA, and 128 strikeouts in 148+13 innings pitched. He spent 2013 with the Double-A Jackson Generals. He started 22 games, went 6-11, and struck out 121 batters in 130 innings.

Elias was invited to spring training by the Mariners in 2014 and competed for a rotation spot on the Mariners’ Opening Day roster, making the team a starter.

On April 3, 2014, Elias made his Major League debut. On June 1, Elias recorded the team’s first shutout by a rookie since Freddy Garcia in 1999 against the Detroit Tigers. Elias pitched in 29 games (all starts) for the Mariners in 2014, compiling a 10-12 record with a 3.85 ERA in 163+23 innings pitched.

Elias appeared in 22 games (20 starts) for Seattle in 2015, pitching 115+ innings with a 4.14 ERA and posting a 5-8 record. He also made 12 starts for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, going 4-2 with a 7.34 ERA in 61+ innings.

Elias appeared in 51 MLB games (49 starts) for the Mariners, posting a 15-20 record with a 3.97 ERA in 279 innings pitched.

Currently, Roenis Elias is married to his long-term girlfriend  Vanessa Elias.  Vanessa Elias is the mother of their two children Roenis Jr., and Romina.
