The Washington Commanders of the National Football League are a team that Taylor Heinicke plays quarterback for professionally. At 1.85 m tall and 95 kg, he is quite tall. He graduated from Collins Hill High School, where he was named an all-state player as a junior after helping Collins Hill to a 10-4 record and a trip to the Class AAAAA quarterfinals.
He received the Georgia Old Spice National Player of the Year award during his senior year, an honor awarded to 50 varsity football players from high schools. On a football scholarship, he enrolled at Old Dominion University (ODU) in 2011 and played for the Old Dominion Monarchs from 2011 to 2014.
He finished the 2013 season with passing yards, passing yards per game, and touchdown passes that ranked among the top ten among FBS quarterbacks. Heinicke was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, thus he signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings. He had 200 yards passing, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 2022 season opener for the Commanders against the Green Bay Packers.
