The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the United States. The National Football League’s National Football Conference South division is home to the Panthers. When the team was first established in 1993 and when it first began competing in 1995, Jerry Richardson was its original owner and founder.

In their first two seasons, the Panthers did a commendable job, finishing 7-9 in 1995 and 12-4 the following year, winning the NFC West before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. They did not have another winning season until 2003, when they won the NFC Championship Game and made it to Super Bowl XXXVIII.

They had three victories to start the 2021 season, but they finished the year with a 5-12 record and a seven-game losing skid.
