Football player Thomas Hennessy plays professionally. He is a long snapper for the National Football League’s New York Jets football team. He was a three-year letterman in football while attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School in high school. He contributed to the team’s 35-0 record over three years.
Additionally, the school won three state championships and was recognized as the national winner in 2009 and 2011 by USA Today. He was ranked by Kohl’s as the ninth-best long snapper in the nation for the class of 2012. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Duke University and majored in biology and minored in psychology. Also from 2013 to 2016, he played collegiate football for the Duke Blue Devils football team.
He was a redshirt in 2012. He began all of the games from 2013 through 2016. During his time in college, he participated in 52 games, starting every one of them, and logged 545 total snaps. He made three solo tackles and one tackle assist in addition. He was not selected in the NFL Draft after graduating from the University, thus on May 4, 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. In August 2017, he was dealt to the New York Jets. Hennessy and the Jets agreed to a four-year, $4.4 million contract extension on October 5, 2019.
