Tony Kemp is an American professional baseball second baseman and outfielder for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. Kemp won the World Series with the Astros in 2017.

When he was promoted to the Astros on September 2nd, he participated in the Astros’ first home game after Hurricane Harvey, a doubleheader against the Mets.

Kemp batted.216 with four RBI in 17 games with the Astros. The 2017 World Series was the first championship for the Astros, who ended the regular season with a 101-61 record.

Kemp was on the 40-man roster at the time of his first championship, despite not participating in any postseason games. The Astros optioned Kemp back to Fresno in March 2018. On May 16, he replaced Jake Marisnick in the starting lineup.

While playing with the Astros in 2018, Kemp batted.263 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 97 games, most of them in left field. When he returned to the batter’s box following a foul ball in the second game of the 2018 ALCS, the Fenway Park crowd and organist laughed at him for a long time.
