While a student at Hallandale High School, he completed passes for 9,053 yards and 106 touchdowns. In his senior year, he was named the Florida Gatorade Football Player of the Year.
While a student at the University of Utah, he played football for the Utah Utes. Before being named the starter in 2017, he played in four games as a backup during his freshman year of 2016.
