Taylor was picked in the second round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft by the Milwaukee Brewers out of Torrance High School in Torrance, California.

He had enrolled with California State University, Fullerton, to play collegiate baseball, but he instead signed with the Brewers.



Taylor debuted professionally with the Helena Brewers that year, as well as the Arizona League Brewers. He hit .387/.434/.667 with two home runs in 75 at-bats across 18 games.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were his team for the 2013 season. He hit.274/.338/.400 with eight home runs in 485 at-bats in 122 games.

Prior to the 2014 season, Baseball America ranked him as the Brewers’ second-best prospect. He began the season with the Brevard County Manatees in Brevard County, Florida.

He batted .260/.312/.337/.649 with three home runs and 43 RBI for the Biloxi Shuckers in 2015. He hit .232/.303/.327/.630 with 9 home runs and 34 RBI on his return to Biloxi in 2016.

Due to hamstring problems, he only played in 25 games for the AZL Brewers and Biloxi in 2017. He hit .287/.355/.509/.864 with 5 home runs and 13 RBI.

He hit .278/.321/.504/.825 with 20 home runs and 80 RBI for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox last season.

After the 2018 offseason, the Brewers added him to their 40-man roster.

He hit .275/.342/.462/.804 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI in a minor league season split between the AZL Brewers and the San Antonio Missions.
