After dominating for the Class AAA Sugar Land Space Cowboys minor league squad, Matijevic has already been added to Houston’s roster.

It is improbable that he will play second base in the Majors because he spent half of his games at first base and the other half in left field.

Matijevic is hitting .310 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 11 games during his fifth season in the Minors. He was selected by the Astros in the second round of the 2017 draft out of the University of Arizona.

The Astros placed first baseman Taylor Jones on the 60-day IL to make way for Matijevic. Jones has been dealing with a lower back ailment ever since training camp.
