Between his only two college baseball seasons, LeMahieu was a member of the 2008 Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he was selected a league all-star, and won the team’s regular-season MVP award and was designated Baseball America magazine’s No. 6 prospect in the Cape Cod League.

For the first time in 21 years, the Mariners won the League Championship Series.

LeMahieu was named a pre-season All American by Collegiate Baseball during his second season.

LeMahieu began the 2009 season with a 9-game hitting streak, adding to his previous 16-game hitting streak at the conclusion of the previous season, for a total of 25 straight games hitting safely.

LeMahieu led the squad in batting average (.350) and total hits (96) at the end of the season. LeMahieu hit a home run in the seventh inning of Game 1 of the Championship Series, giving LSU a temporary lead.

In the ninth inning, with one out left, LeMahieu smashed a game-tying double off the left field wall. After drawing a walk to start the 11th inning, he stole second base with two outs and scored the game-winning run.

LeMahieu was named to the All-Tournament team of the 2009 College World Series after hitting .444 in the series and leading all players with 12 hits.
