Dyami Brown attended West Mecklenburg High School while he was a child growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Brown had 999 receiving yards, 14 touchdown receptions, and five defensive interceptions as a junior. In his senior year, he rushed for five touchdowns in addition to scoring 10 touchdowns on 41 receptions for 631 yards.
Brown, a four-star recruit who made his commitment to play college football for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, was regarded as the top wide receiver prospect of his class in the state.
Brown hauled up 17 catches as a rookie for 173 yards and a score. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with 20.3 yards per reception as a sophomore and tied the school record with 12 touchdowns on 51 grabs for 1,034 yards.
In a defeat against the Virginia Cavaliers, he caught six receptions for 202 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the title of ACC Receiver of the Week. Following a six-reception, 150-yard performance against NC State, he was once more awarded receiver of the week.
Brown followed up his 1,000-yard season in 2020 with an additional eight touchdowns, earning him a spot on the Associated Press’ third-team All-American team.
He was the first FBS player to average at least 20 yards per reception over two straight years since 2000. In order to get ready for the 2021 NFL Draft, he decided without playing in the Orange Bowl in 2021. He played wide receiver at North Carolina alongside his younger brother Khafre.
