During the NFL Draft in 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the 63rd overall pick. In Starkville, Mississippi, Gay received his high school diploma from Starkville High School.



He competed in the United States Army All-American Bowl 2017, which took place in 2017. He has already given Mississippi State University his word that he will attend to play collegiate football.

Gay was a student at Mississippi State University from the 2017 academic year to the 2019 academic year.



Due to several bans that prevented him from taking part in all eight games, he was only permitted to play in five of them as a junior in 2019.

Upon the season’s completion, Gay decided not to participate in his final year and instead declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. 99 tackles, six sacks, three interceptions, and one score have all been recorded in his career.


He has played in a total of one game. In addition to that, he scored one touchdown. The Kansas City Chiefs made the selection of Bill Gay in the second round of the NFL Draft in the year 2020.

During the game against the Raiders in Las Vegas in Week 5, Gay recorded the first sack of his professional career.

Because of an injury he received after being placed on injured reserve on February 6, 2021, Gay was unable to play in Super Bowl LV. Gay’s ailment prevented him from participating in the game.

As a consequence of Gay’s arrest in January 2022 and his breach of the personal conduct policy of the National Football League (NFL), the NFL handed him a personal conduct policy violation penalty.
