Willy Rafael Luna Adames plays shortstop for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. In 2018, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he remained until 2021.

In July 2012, Adames became an international free agent and signed with the Detroit Tigers. With the Dominican Summer League Tigers, he made his professional debut in 2013.

He had a .245/.419/.370 batting line in 60 games, with one home run. With the West Michigan Whitecaps, Adames began the 2014 season.



Adames, Drew Smyly, and Nick Franklin were traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on July 31, 2014, while Austin Jackson was traded to the Seattle Mariners and David Price was traded to the Detroit Tigers.

He was assigned to the Bowling Green Hot Rods by the Rays and played the rest of the season with them. He hit .271 with eight home runs and 61 RBIs in 125 games with West Michigan and Bowling Green combined.

He hit .258 with four home runs and 46 RBIs for the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2015, and .274 with 11 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 31 doubles for the Montgomery Biscuits in 2016.

In the All-Star Futures Game in 2016, Adames was named to the World Team. Following the 2016 season, Adames was added to the Rays’ 40-man roster.
