He attended West Virginia University after high school and participated in the West Virginia Mountaineers football team’s collegiate season.

Throughout the 2014 campaign, he redshirted. Before becoming hurt in the 2015 season, he made six starts. However, he came back when the Mountaineers won the Cactus Bowl at the end of the campaign. He suffered a season-ending injury in 2016 against Missouri in the opening game of the season.
