Yu-Cheng Chang, simply called Yu Chang plays professional baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. He plays as an infielder for the Pirates and has been with them since May 2022.
Chang was born in Taiwan on August 18, 1995, in a town called Taitung County. He paid baseball non professionally in Taiwan till he was signed by the Cleveland Indians in 2013 as an international free agent. He was given an amount of $500,000 as a signing bonus. He made his professional debut the following year with the Arizona League Indians of the Rookie-level Arizona League.
During the 2015 season, he was assigned to play with the Lake County Captains of the Class A Midwest League. He spent the 2016 season playing for the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League where he was named an all-star.
His 2017 minor league season was spent with the Akron RubberDucks of the Class AA Eastern League. When the season ended, the Indians added him to their 40-man roster. The Indians called him up to the major leagues in June 2019 and he made his MLB debut on July 28 that year. The Indians traded his contract to the Pittsburgh Pirates in May 2022.
