Zachary Garrett Jackson is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Oakland Athletics (MLB).
Jackson went to Berryhill High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he grew up. After pitching to a 13–1 win–loss record, 0.38 earned run average (ERA), and 147 strikeouts in 722/3 innings, he was awarded a second-team All-American by Baseball America in his senior year.
Jackson was the valedictorian of his class and graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
He subsequently went on to play three seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas. Jackson pitched 422/3 innings with a 2.53 ERA and 42 strikeouts in his first season.
In 60 innings pitched as a sophomore, Jackson finished 5–1 with a 2.10 ERA, 89 strikeouts, and nine saves in 27 relief appearances.
He was named to the All-SEC First Team and the Collegiate National Team as a result of his efforts. Jackson worked as a starter and reliever for the Razorbacks in his last season, posting a 3–4 record with a 5.09 ERA, 66 strikeouts, and four saves.
Jackson was drafted in the third round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jackson was promoted to the Short Season-A Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League after one appearance in the GCL, where he finished the season.
Jackson pitched 14 innings in relief in 2016, going 1–1 with a 3.38 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 182/3 innings.
To begin the 2017 season, he was assigned to the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts before being promoted to the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays in June. Jackson had a 2–2 record, 2.47 ERA, and 68 strikeouts in 51 innings this season.
The Oakland Athletics chose Jackson in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft on December 10, 2020. He did not play in a minor league game in 2020 since the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Athletics picked Jackson’s contract on April 7, 2022, and he was added to their opening day roster.
