The Denver Broncos of the National Football League have Zach McCloud on their roster as a linebacker. In high school, he played football for Santaluces High School. He declined scholarship offers from other universities after high school in favor of playing college football with the University of Miami’s Miami Hurricanes. He started at linebacker in 11 of the team’s 13 games and racked up 37 tackles overall in his debut season as a true freshman in 2016.
He added two pass breakups, four quarterback hurries, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one blocked punt to his list of accomplishments. In 2017, he participated in all 13 games as a sophomore, started 11, and made 48 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.
In addition, he produced three quarterback hurries and one caused turnover. That season, he was one of the team’s top defensive players and was named ACC Co-Linebacker of the Week once. He played in all 13 games and made nine starts as a junior in 2018. With 44 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, he had a successful season.
He participated in four games, made one start, and racked up nine tackles and one PBU in 2019. He started eight of the nine games he played in as a redshirt senior in 2020, and before the season began, he was elected one of the four team captains. He made a total of 27 tackles towards the end of the season. Following the 2021 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent.
