Plesac was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 12th round (362nd overall) of the 2016 MLB draft and signed on June 29, 2016, for a $100,000 signing bonus, but did not play in 2016.

 

He debuted with the Class A Short Season Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2017, and after compiling a 1.38 ERA in eight games (seven starts), he was promoted to the Class A Lake County Captains, where he concluded the season with a 1–1 record and a 3.60 ERA in six appearances.

Plesac pitched for both the Class A Lynchburg Hillcats and the Double-A Akron RubberDucks in 2018, with a combined 11–6 record with a 3.79 ERA in 26 starts for both organizations.

In early May, he was promoted to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers after returning to Akron.

 

On May 28, 2019, the Indians selected Plesac’s contract from the Clippers. That day, he made his MLB debut against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, surrendering one run on four hits in 5+13 innings and collecting a no-decision.

Plesac pitched a four-hit shutout against the Los Angeles Angels in the heart of a tight wildcard playoff race. Plesac pitched his first complete game and shut out of the season.
