Plesac was chosen by the Cleveland Indians in the 12th round (362nd overall) in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He signed on June 29, 2016, and received a $100,000 signing bonus. However, he did not play in 2016.

Plesac pitched to a combined 11-6 record with a 3.79 ERA in 26 total starts across both organizations in 2018 while playing for both the Class A-Advanced Lynchburg Hillcats and the Double-A Akron RubberDucks.



2019 saw him return to Akron, and in early May he was promoted to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.

Plesac made eight appearances for the 2020 Cleveland Indians, going 4-2 with a 2.28 ERA, 57 strikeouts, and 55 13 innings worked. Plesac was the opposition pitcher in all three of the Indians’ no-hit games in 2021, which set an MLB record.

With a 10-6 record, 4.67 ERA, and 100 strikeouts in 2021, Plesac achieved his first 10-win season. The Indians were the first team to go three games without being hit in a season when Plesac, in an odd coincidence, was the starting pitcher on the other end of three no-hitters.
