Zachary Allen Collins is an American professional baseball catcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball.

Collins was born on February 6, 1995, in the United States (MLB). Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Chicago White Sox.



Collins and Brandon Lopez, who would later play on the same team together in college, were both students at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.

He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2013, but he did not sign with them.

Instead, he attended the University of Miami, where he was a member of the Miami Hurricanes baseball team and played college baseball. In 2014, Collins was a freshman at Miami and appeared in 61 games, hitting.298/.427/.556 with 11 home runs and 54 runs batted in (RBIs).

He received both the ACC Freshman of the Year award as well as the Freshman of the Year award from Baseball America.

In his sophomore season in 2015, he appeared in 66 games and recorded a batting line of.302/.445/.587 with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Following the conclusion of the 2015 campaign, he participated in summer collegiate baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.  Collins finished his junior year with a batting average of.363, 16 home runs, and 59 RBIs.

Additionally, he walked 78 times, which was the highest level in all of collegiate baseball. He was awarded the Johnny Bench Trophy.
