Zack Wheeler

Zack Wheeler is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Between 2013 and 2019, he played in MLB for the New York Mets.

When Wheeler was acquired by the Mets, he quickly ascended the organization’s farm system before making his major league debut in 2013.

Wheeler was a bright spot in the Mets’ otherwise poor seasons in 2013 and 2014, but his progress was abruptly halted in 2015 when he tore his ulnar collateral ligament in spring training.

An operation to repair his Tommy John injury was scheduled for 2016, but a series of setbacks during rehabilitation stopped Wheeler from returning to the field until the following season.

After missing all of 2017 due to injury, Wheeler had a breakout season in 2018 with the Mets, going on to record career highs in strikeouts and innings pitched.

His contract with the Phillies expired at the end of the 2019 season, and in December he signed a five-year agreement.
