Ilocos Norte, Philippines native Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc is a politician and sportsman.
He was a senior provincial board member from the second legislative district of Ilocos Norte from 2016 to 2019, and he is currently the governor of that province.
The youngest child of Imee Romualdez Marcos and Tommy La’O Manotoc, Manotoc was born in Morocco on December 9, 1988.
He is a Marcos family member. His parents apparently lived in exile in Morocco at the time of his birth while using fictitious passports.
He traveled to the US in 2006 to attend Claremont McKenna College.
Ilocos Norte’s 2nd legislative district was represented by Manotoc as a provincial board member in the 2016 Philippine local elections.
This made him the third-highest-ranking official in the province of Ilocos Norte, making him the province’s senior provincial board member.
He also served as head of the Ilocos Norte Chapter of the National Movement of Young Legislators from 2016 to 2019.
Aside from his mother, he ran unopposed for governor of Ilocos Norte in the 2019 Philippine gubernatorial elections.
By supporting and modernizing medical facilities and public health programs, he aimed at improving access to health care for all.
Ilocos Norte’s push for a greener and healthier environment gained momentum when he introduced his signature program, “NariMAT Nga Aglawlaw,” in October of this year.
