Randa Grichuk is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played in MLB for the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays.
Grichuk has already made his college decision and will be attending the University of Arizona next year. Grichuk was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft, one spot ahead of Mike Trout.
Instead of going to school, Grichuk chose to sign with the Angels. The outfield prospect’s progress was hampered by a trifecta of bizarre injuries…
After just 12 games in 2010, he tore a ligament. Second, he was hit in the knee by a foul ball. Finally, he shattered his wrist while diving for a ball. Grichuk hit.298 with 18 home runs and 71 runs batted in for the Class-A Inland Empire 66ers in his first full season in 2012.
In 2013, he was promoted to the Arkansas Travelers, where he appeared in 128 games, batting.220. 22 home runs and 64 RBI make up the 256 total.
Grichuk was named the 2013 Minor League Gold Glove Award winner for the right field by Rawlings and MiLB in October of that year.
