Porter Ellett Career History As A Coach

Porter Ellett served as the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Senior Assistant Head Coach (2017-19) for three seasons. In 2021, he will begin his second season as offensive quality control coach .

He worked with an offense that ranked first in total net yards per game (415.8) and passing yards per game (244.6).

He also worked with the tight end group, which included first-team AP All-Pro, PFWA All-NFL, and Pro Bowl TE Travis Kelce, who set a new NFL record for tight ends with his fifth consecutive season of 1,000 receiving yards.

He became the first tight end in NFL history to have two seasons with at least 100 receptions each (in 2018 and 2020), and his 1,416 receiving yards surpassed George Kittle’s 2018 record of 1,377 yards set by the San Francisco 49ers TE.

Eric Bieniemy served as the team’s Offensive Coordinator while Ellett served as Andy Reid’s Senior Assistant to the Head Coach. He also assisted with the quarterback development program.

Ellett previously worked as a graduate assistant at Baylor University’s SMG McLane Stadium while pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Management. He worked in the football team’s equipment room while an undergraduate at Brigham Young University.

Besides competing in sports, Ellett has a long record of community service. As a motivational speaker and facilitator, he has delivered over 1,000 keynotes across the country since joining Coolspeak in 2007.

In addition, Ellett owns Camp Overcome, a youth development program that uses sports as a vehicle for teaching positive values. He spends his spare time training and competing in Paralympic swimming and triathlons when he isn’t volunteering.
