Kyle David Whittingham is a former player and coach in the National Football League. He is the University of Utah’s head football coach. He’s been in this job since 2004.
In addition, he holds the record for most wins at Utah. Whittingham spent ten seasons as the defensive coordinator at Utah before becoming head coach.

Whittingham played linebacker for the BYU Cougars from 1978 to 1981. In 1981, he was voted first-team All-WAC and WAC Defensive Player of the Year.
He played linebacker for the USFL’s Denver Gold and New Orleans Breakers, as well as the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, after graduating from BYU in 1981.
He was also a member of the Los Angeles Rams’ substitute squad in 1984. Whittingham worked as a graduate assistant for BYU during the 1985 and 1986 seasons. Whittingham joined the College of Eastern Utah’s defensive staff in 1987.
