Where did Freddie Freeman Get Traded to?

For the first time in his career, Freeman turned down the Braves’ qualifying offer after the 2021 season and became a free agent.

The Atlanta Braves’ Freddie Freeman may be on his way out.

The Braves have completed a trade with the Oakland Athletics in which star first baseman Matt Olson gets traded to Atlanta in exchange for four prospects, including outfielder Cristian Pache and catcher Shea Langeliers. The deal has been made public and is now complete.

Freddie Freeman, who appeared to be a lock to return to Atlanta heading into the offseason, has the option of signing a free agent contract.

Freeman wanted a six-year, $180 million deal, but the Braves were more interested in a five-year, $130 million deal, similar to Paul Goldschmidt’s deal with the Cardinals.

Freeman has been in contact with the Dodgers in recent days. Freeman will be able to sign with his hometown team thanks to the Olson trade.

Freddie Freeman appears to be worth more to the Dodgers than to the Braves after fifteen years with the franchise, the last four as a top ten MVP finisher.

Only when aging curves govern teams rather than the impression of recruiting, developing, and keeping a franchise player does it make sense.
