Who is Dermot Fitzpatrick’s Daughter Mary Fitzpatrick?

Mary Fitzpatrick is the daughter of Dermot Fitzpatrick and a politician, She has been a Senator since June 2020 after being appointed by the Taoiseach Fitzpatrick was up on Dublin’s Navan Road and attended Our Lady Help of Christians and St Dominic’s College Cabra before earning a BA in German and Italian from University College Dublin.

Fitzpatrick left Ireland in the 1980s, living and working in the hospitality, manufacturing, education, and construction industries. She worked in International Sales and Marketing from the early 1990s.

Fitzpatrick was co-opted to Dublin City Council in 2003 to replace her father, Dermot Fitzpatrick, who resigned when the dual mandate banned sitting Oireachtas members from retaining local government seats. She was re-elected in the 2004 municipal elections with more than 10% of the vote.



In the 2014 European Parliament election, she was chosen as the Fianna Fáil candidate for the Dublin seat. She constructed posters illegally and prematurely, generating considerable controversy when she was accused of violating regulations. She did not win the election.

Furthermore, she ran for re-election in Dublin Central in the 2016 general election. She garnered 10.6 percent of the first-choice votes but was defeated. She ran in the Cabra-Glasnevin local electoral area in the 2019 local elections.

Likewise, she garnered 19.4 percent of first-choice votes and won the election on the first count. She was defeated in the Dublin Central seat in the 2020 general election, despite receiving 10.3 percent of first preference votes.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin nominated her to the Seanad in June 2020.
