Eric John Hosmer is an American professional baseball first baseman for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. He was born on October 24, 1989. From 2011 through 2017, he was a member of the Kansas City Royals.
Scouts regarded Hosmer as a “left-handed batter with raw power” coming out of American Heritage High School in Florida.
In the 2008 MLB draft, the Royals selected him with the third overall pick and paid him a $6 million signing bonus. Before making his MLB debut in 2011, he advanced through Minor League Baseball.
After hitting.293 with 19 home runs in 128 games, he finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting after the 2011 season. From 2013 to 2015, Hosmer won back-to-back Gold Glove Awards, as well as the Silver Slugger Award in 2017.
He was the 2016 MLB All-Star Game MVP and a member of the 2015 World Series-winning team. Hosmer signed an eight-year contract with the San Diego Padres after becoming a free agent after the 2017 season.

The beautiful couple behind the birth of Eric Hosmer is Mike Hosmer and Ileana Hosmer. Mike Hosmer, his father, is a former firefighter, and Ileana Hosmer, his mother, is a nurse.
His mother was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was seven years old to flee Fidel Castro’s tyranny, where she grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mike was assigned to duty at Coral Gables Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida, where Ileana worked, and the two met in 1979. Four years later, they married. Mike Jr., their first son, was born in 1985, and Eric, their second son, was born four years later in Miami.
