Cole R. Irvin (born January 31, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball. He is known as “Swirvin Cole Irvin”.
Irvin was picked in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, and he made his major-level debut in 2019.
The Philadelphia Phillies selected Irvin in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft for $800,000.
He was sent to the Williamsport Crosscutters after signing and pitched for them for the entire season, going 5–1 with a 1.97 ERA in ten games (seven starts).
He pitched for the Clearwater Threshers and the Reading Fightin Phils in 2017, going 9–9 with a 3.39 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) for both teams. He was selected as a Florida State League All-Star with Clearwater.
On May 12, 2019, Irvin was promoted to the major leagues for the first time and made his big league debut on the same day. He won his first MLB game after pitching seven innings and allowing only one earned run.
