Is the original Gerber Baby Still Alive or Dead?

The original Gerber Baby

After more than nine decades, the lady who inspired the iconic Gerber Baby Food logo has passed away.

Gerber is very grieved by the departure of Ann Turner Cook, the original Gerber infant, whose face was sketched to become the iconic Gerber emblem more than 90 years ago,” the business wrote on Instagram on Friday.

In the years leading up to her success as a remarkable mother, educator, and author, her infectious grin and wide-eyed wonder won over hearts all around the world. Dear Ann’s friends and family, please accept our heartfelt condolences.

In her later years, Cook, who ultimately became a teacher and novelist, lived to the age of 95. A neighbor brought in a drawing of her to the firm in 1928 in response to an open call for fresh ad campaigns, and she became the face of Gerber.

At the age of three, my mother pointed to a baby food jar and said, “That’s my picture,” recalls Cook, speaking to CBS Sunday Morning in 2013. “I found that to be a nice gesture.”
