American pitcher Trevor J. Megill, born on December 5, 1993, plays for the Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball. He formerly represented the Chicago Cubs in MLB. In the seventh round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, the San Diego Padres selected him.
He was selected by the San Diego Padres in the seventh round of the 2015 MLB draft, with the 207th overall pick, and he later signed with them.
Megill played for the Tri-City Dust Devils and the AZL Padres separately in 2015, going a combined 2-0 with a 3.16 ERA across 31.1 innings. Due to problems with bone spurs, Megill did not participate in any games in 2016.
He pitched in 27.1 innings for the Lake Elsinore Storm, Tri-City, and the AZL, finishing 5-0 with a 2.63 ERA.
In 2018, he played parts of the season for the San Antonio Missions, Lake Elsinore, and the AZL, finishing a combined 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA across 37.2 innings.
He played for the El Paso Chihuahuas, Lake Elsinore, and Amarillo Sod Poodles in the 2019 season, going a combined 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA over 60.2 innings.
Megill was picked up by the Minnesota Twins off of waivers on November 30, 2021. Megill was, however, not extended a contract by the Twins that day, and he, therefore, became a free agent. Megill renewed his minor league deal with the Twins on December 5.
The Twins picked Megill’s contract on May 21, 2022.
