The former Turin and Treviso footballer had complained of leg pain for the past few days before falling ill and dying in the car with a friend early the morning of Sunday. The father of a young daughter, he was just 39 years old.
It all began in Nigeria As a youngster, Omolade arrived in Italy where he quickly established himself and made a name for himself as a talented soccer player.
Following the retirement of his boots, he settled in Sicily, where he married and had a child.
Because he had also been a professional athlete, he had never had any health issues. However, he had been complaining of leg pain for the past few days, prompting him to seek medical attention in the capital city of Sicily.
On June 3, 8, and 12, Omolade went to the hospital, but nothing was resolved. On the 13th, he was scheduled to come back, but he couldn’t walk, so he got a friend to come and grab it for him.
However, as soon as he climbed into the driver’s seat, he began to feel guilty. The friend dialed 911, and he was immediately contacted by the responding dispatcher.
Unfortunately for him, there was nothing else he could do. It is yet unclear what caused his death, but cadaveric exams are expected to provide some insight in the following days.
