Michael Lorenzen is an American professional baseball pitcher and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Cincinnati Reds.
However, Michael Lorenzen chose to attend Cal State Fullerton rather than sign a contract with the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2010 amateur draft.
Afterward, the Cincinnati Reds drafted him as an amateur in the supplemental first round in 2013. As a pitcher, he was drafted by the Reds in his senior year of college at Cal State-Fullerton, where he was mostly a power-hitting outfielder.
Even though he had only thrown 44 innings in college, they had a plan to make him into a starter. On July 3rd, he made his professional debut with the AZL Reds, the first of four short-lived stints he would make in his first season in the minors. He had a record of 1-1, 3.00, and had thrown 21 innings over 22 starts.
