Jose Suarez is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). In July of 2014, Suarez became an international free agent and signed a contract with the Los Angeles Angels.

In his first year as a professional, he split his time between the Arizona League Angels and the Dominican Summer League Angels, where he played a total of 15 games and compiled a combined 3-3 record with a 2.97 earned run average (13 starts).

In 2016, he pitched for the Orem Owlz and the Arizona League Angels, for which he had a combined record of 1-4 with a 4.84 earned run average in 12 games (six starts).

In 2017, Suarez pitched for the Arizona League Angels and the Burlington Bees, making a total of 15 starts and compiling a record of 6-1 with a 3.28 earned run average (ERA).

He began the 2018 season with the Inland Empire 66ers, but he was later moved up to the Mobile BayBears and the Salt Lake Bees. Between the three organizations, he made a total of 26 starts and finished with a record of 3-6 and a 3.92 earned run average.

Following the conclusion of the 2018 campaign, the Angels included Suarez on their 40-man roster. Shoulder discomfort forced him to start the 2019 campaign on the injured list, and he was sent back to Salt Lake after he recovered from his injury.

Is Jose Suarez A Good Pitcher?

After the conclusion of the 2018 season, he was ranked by MLB.com as the eighth best overall prospect for the Angels organization and the second-best among pitchers.

Because he had struck out 42 percent of the batters he faced in 2018, he finished the year ranked second across all of Minor League Baseball.

Following the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Baseball America deemed Jose Suarez to have the best changeup in the Angels organization’s farm system.
